Vincent Ferrer

Vincent Ferrer
(c. 1350–1419)
   Saint, Devotional Writer and Preacher.
Vincent was born in Valencia, Spain, and after studying at Tarragona, Barcelona and Toulouse, he joined the Dominican Order. He was the author of De Vita Spirituali and he was famous throughout Europe for his preaching mission which inspired excesses of enthusiasm. Although he was a close associate of Antipope Benedict XIII, he strongly disapproved of the latter’s prolongation of the Great Schism. Many miracles were ascribed to him; he was known as the ‘Angel of Judgement’ and he was canonised thirty-five years after his death.
